Honesty (Cover Version of Billy Joel)

From: Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia.
"Honesty" is a song by American singer-songwriter Billy Joel. Columbia Records released the song as the third single from his sixth studio album 52nd Street (1978) in 1979. "Honesty" was solely written by Joel, while production was handled by Phil Ramone. The song was not included on any of Joel's US-released compilation packages; however, it appears on the Dutch and Japanese editions of Greatest Hits Volume 2, replacing "Don't Ask Me Why" (1980). "Honesty" is a piano ballad that talks about the inherent lack of shame.

The song received mostly positive reviews from music critics, who generally praised its lyrics and piano instrumentation. It also received comparisons to other songs by Joel. "Honesty" peaked at number twenty-four on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the album's third consecutive top forty hit. It was certified gold by Recording Industry Association of Japan for ringtone download sales of over 100,000 units. Joel performed the song live several times with Elton John and later with Bryan Adams. "Honesty" has been covered and sampled by various artists, most notably by American R&B recording artist, Beyoncé Knowles.

Lyrics

If you search for tenderness
it isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can always find someone
to say they sympathize.
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.
But I don't want some pretty face
to tell me pretty lies.
All I want is someone to believe.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.
I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me
with promises again.
I know, I know.

When I'm deep inside of me
don't be too concerned.
I won't as for nothin' while I'm gone.
But when I want sincerity
tell me where else can I turn.
Because you're the one I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Somewhere" sometimes referred to as "Somewhere (There's a Place for Us)" or simply "There's a Place for Us" is a song from the 1957 Broadway musical West Side Story that was made into a film in 1961. The music is composed by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and takes a phrase from the slow movement of Beethoven's 'Emperor' Piano Concerto, which forms the start of the melody,[1] and also a longer phrase from the main theme of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

In 1985, Barbra Streisand released a version of "Somewhere" as a single off the Grammy Award-winning The Broadway Album, charting at #43 in the US (on the Billboard Hot 100) and #88 in the UK.[2] The song itself won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocal(s). In 2011, a duet was produced using scenes from Streisand's version while Jackie Evancho performed live with David Foster at the Ringling Museum of Art. On her 2014 Partners album, she released a new recording of the song, this time as a duet with Josh Groban.

Someday, somewhere
We'll find a new way of living
Will find a way of forgiving
Somewhere...
There's a place for us
Somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere
There's a time for us
Someday there'll be a time for us
Time together and time to spare
Time to learn, time to care
Someday, somewhere
We'll find a new way of living
Will find there's a way of forgiving
Somewhere... Somewhere... Somewhere...
There's a place for us
A time and a place for us
Hold my hand and we're half way there
Just hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow...
Someday, somewhere...

Sealed with a Kiss

From: Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia.
Sealed With a Kiss was Bobby Vinton's twenty-third studio album for Epic Records. It was released in 1972 just before Epic released Vinton from his contract with them. The title track (a cover of Brian Hyland's 1962 hit) is the album's only single. Other covers include "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", "Speak Softly Love", "Some Kind of Wonderful", "Come Softly to Me", "Song Sung Blue", "The End of the World" and "Our Day Will Come".
"Sealed with a Kiss" is a song written by Peter Udell and Gary Geld. It was first recorded by The Four Voices in 1960 and released as a single, but their recording was not a hit.[1]

In 1962, Brian Hyland, who often performed Udell and Geld's material, covered the song. Hyland's single began its run on June 6, 1962 and became a hit, reaching No. 3 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.[2] The personnel on the original Brian Hyland recording included Mundell Lowe, Al Caiola on guitar, Gary Geld on piano, George Duvivier on bass, Blackie Shackner on harmonica and Gary Chester on drums and Sticks Evans and Al Rogers on percussion.

When re-released in 1975, Hyland's recording charted in the UK at No. 7. Hyland also recorded a version in German.

A third Top 40 Hot 100 version came in 1972, when Bobby Vinton released a single, reaching No .19 in the Billboard singles chart.[4] This version also placed high on Billboard's adult contemporary chart. Vinton arranged the song himself, with a modern sound including a unique bongo opening that made the song stand out from the pack. The success of the single led to the release of an album, also titled Sealed With A Kiss that charted as a best seller. This single, which was a follow up to "Evry Day of My Life" marked a Vinton comeback in 1972, with the artist appearing on American Bandstand and other television shows on the strength of the single. Billboard ranked it as the No. 87 song for 1972.[5] Vinton's recording was used in both the trailer and end credits of the 2007 horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Lyrics

'Though we gotta say goodbye, for the summer
Baby I promise you this
I'll send you all my love every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

Yes it's gonna be a cold, lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my dreams every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But baby you won't be there

I don't want to say goodbye, for the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
So let us make a pledge to meet in September
And seal it with a kiss

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Widuri" is a 1977 song recorded by the Indonesian Bob Tutupoly As you can see, the beautiful written lyrics.  Unfortunately I have missed some of the love boat and still wonder who would be the lady I should direct this song to!  Anyway I did not find any write up on this song and I just write something here.

Di suatu senja, Di musim yang lalu
Ketika itu hujan rintik
Terpukau aku, Menatap wajahmu
Di remang cahaya sinar pelangi

Lalu engkau tersenyum
Ku menyesali diri
Tak tahu apakah arti senyummu

Dengan mengusap, titik airmata
Engkau bisikkan deritamu
Tersentuh hati, dalam keharuan
Setelah tahu apa yang terjadi
***
Sekian lamanya engkau
Hidup seorang diri
Ku ingin membalut luka hatimu

Widuri…
Elok bagai rembulan... oh sayang
Widuri…
Indah bagai lukisan…
Widuri…
Bukalah pintu hati untukku
Widuri…
Ku akan menyayangi

Widuri…
Elok bagai rembulan... oh sayang
Widuri…
Indah bagai lukisan…

Google Translated

One evening, in the last season
When the rain
I'm fascinated, staring you in the face
In the dim light rainbow rays

Then you smile
I feel sorry for myself
Do not know what is the meaning of your smile

By rubbing, the point of tears
You whisper deritamu
Touch the heart, the compassion
After know what happened
***
So shalt thou
Living alone
My heart wants to dress wounds

Thistle ...
Elegant like the moon ... oh dear
Thistle ...
Beautiful like a painting ...
Thistle ...
Open the door of the heart for me
Thistle ...
I would love

Thistle ...
Elegant like the moon ... oh dear
Thistle ...
Beautiful like a painting ...

Release Me

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Release Me" (sometimes rendered as "Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)"), is a popular song written by Eddie Miller, Robert Yount, and James Pebworth[1] under the pseudonym Dub Williams,[2][3] published in 1946 .

Miller wrote the song in 1946 but could not get anyone to record it for years, so he recorded it himself in 1949. Shortly afterward it was covered by Jimmy Heap, and with even better success by Ray Price and Kitty Wells. Subsequently a big seller was recorded by Little Esther Phillips, who reached number one on the R&B chart and number eight on the pop chart.[4] A version by Engelbert Humperdinck reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.[5]

The Engelbert Humperdinck song has the distinction in the UK of holding the number-one slot in the chart for six weeks during March and April 1967, and preventing The Beatles single, "Penny Lane" / "Strawberry Fields Forever", from reaching the top. "Release Me" was also the highest selling single of 1967 in the UK, recording over one million sales, and eventually became one of the best selling singles of all time with sales of 1.38 million copies.[6]
The story of how the song reached number one in the UK Singles Chart[7] is one of pure chance and being in the right place at the right time. In 1965, Humperdinck, who at the time was performing under the name of Gerry Dorsey, met up again with an old friend of his, Gordon Mills. By this time Mills was successfully managing Tom Jones. He took him onto his management roster and changed his name. He released a couple of near misses in the UK although one song "Dommage, Dommage" had been successful in Europe.[5]

Early in 1967, Humperdinck was asked to stand in for Dickie Valentine, who was ill, on the variety TV show Sunday Night at the London Palladium.[5] The show was one of the biggest rating shows in the UK at the time. He sang his latest song, "Release Me", an old US country hit, on the show and it reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on 2 March and stayed there for six weeks, keeping "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles off the top of the charts in the process.[5] The record stayed in the charts for a record fifty-six consecutive weeks.[8]

The B-side, "Ten Guitars", became a surprise hit in New Zealand among young Maori moving to the cities for work, and not long after, the wider New Zealand music scene itself.[9] 'Ten Guitars' later served as the name for a documentary on New Zealand popular music.[10]

Release me , release my body.
I know it's wrong, So why am I with you now.
I say release me, Cause I'm not able to
convince myself
That I'm better off without you.

Yeah, it's perfectly clear
That love's not what you need
I tell you I don't care
But I don't want to
Anything that you say
I hear myself agree
And I don't recognize
What I've turned into,

I don't know why I want you so
'Cause I don't need the heart break
I don't know what addictive hold
You have on me I can't shake
No, I'm not in control
So let me go

Release me
Release my body
I know it's wrong
So why do I keep coming back
I say release me
'Cause I'm not able to
Convince myself
That I'm better off without you

I could sleep by myself
I would burn me alive
Find me somebody else
But I don't want to
Try to leave out the love
That goes against the grain
But I can rationalize it
If I have to

I don't know why I want you so
'Cause I don't need the heart break
I don't know what addictive hold
You have on me I can't shake
No, I'm not in control
So let me go

Release me
Release my body
I know it's wrong
So why do I keep coming back
I say release me
'Cause I'm not able to
Convince myself
That I'm better off without you..

I'm not in control
So let me go

Release me
Release my body
I know it's wrong
So why do I keep coming back
I say release me
'Cause I'm not able to
Convince myself
That I'm better off without you..

Release me
Release my body
I know it's wrong
So why do I keep coming back
I say release me
'Cause I'm not able to
Convince myself
That I'm better off without you..
